On March 07th, 2017, at the Ministry of Industry and Trade Office, the Ministry-level Scientific and Technological Council held an appraisal meeting on the research project "A study on the technological process of producing essential oils from Buddha’s Hand" headed by Dr. Nguyen Van Loi, HaUI Institute of Technology, Hanoi University of Industry.
Currently, Buddha’s Hand trees are grown in many places in our country with an increase in the planting area and output. However, this fruit is mainly used for worshipping in religious festivals and exporting to Chinese market. Although this kind of fruit contains a lot of useful ingredients, there is not any either specific research on them or effective use of them. Therefore, the research team decided to carry out the study on "the process of producing essential oil from Buddha’s Hand".
The project focuses on the following contents: developing the technological process of producing essential oils from Buddha’s Hand, identifying the bioactivity of aroma components in its shell oil, and applying its shell oil in food industry.
