On November 5, 2024, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) organized a meaningful exchange program entitled “Igniting Traditional Values - Sharing Historical Stories.” This event, attended by war veterans and historical witnesses who lived through significant moments in the nation’s history, brought to life a vivid picture of Vietnam’s strength, unity, and national pride, helping students understand the country's illustrious past.

Over 500 HaUI students attended the event, eager to learn about Vietnam’s proud historical legacy. Mr. Nguyen Duc Thinh, Chairman of the hero club and a historical storyteller, painted a vivid portrait of Vietnam’s revolutionary heroes, sharing stories of bravery and sacrifice. Through his storytelling, Mr. Thinh inspired young attendees with the resilient spirit of those who fought and sacrificed for the nation's independence.

Adding to this sense of pride, Lieutenant Colonel Le Quang Luan, former Infantry Regiment Commissar shared six of Vietnam’s remarkable feats achieved in the Ho Chi Minh era. He recounted his experiences during the intense 81-day battle at Quang Tri Citadel, symbolizing the unbreakable spirit of Vietnamese soldiers. His emotional narration emphasized the themes of sacrifice and patriotism.

Veteran Nguyen Van Vinh shared his story of enduring enemy imprisonment and torture at Phu Quoc prison. Despite the dire conditions, he and his comrades continued their resistance even behind bars, showcasing the courage and resilience of Vietnamese revolutionary fighters.

A special event moment featured Colonel, Hero of the Armed Forces, painter, and sculptor Le Duy Ung. In the spring of 1975, at the historic threshold of the country’s reunification, he was gravely injured, losing his sight. He famously used his blood to draw portraits of President Ho Chi Minh, the national flag, and the Communist Party’s flag. During the event, he presented the university’s Youth Union with a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, symbolizing the unwavering spirit of Vietnam's revolutionary generations and their deep respect for the country’s great leader.

The exchange program brought history closer to HaUI students and offered the younger generation an opportunity to understand the sacrifices of previous generations. Through these inspiring stories, HaUI students felt a renewed appreciation for the value of peace and a commitment to learning and upholding the cherished traditions of their nation.
