“Hồn Việt - The Soul of Vietnam” from HaUI students at Global Student Fashion Week 2025
The “Hồn Việt - The Soul of Vietnam” collection, designed by students from the Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion Design at Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), took center stage at Global Student Fashion Week 2025 (GSFW), celebrating the beauty of folk culture and reaffirming the vitality of traditional art in contemporary fashion.

Global Student Fashion Week 2025 is the world's first fashion week dedicated exclusively to educational institutions in the fashion industry. GSFW aims to maximize the potential of all fashion students worldwide. The week-long event gathers 150 designers from 30 fashion schools across the globe. Additionally, it features performances from 450 beauty queens and male models, 900 dancers, and over 6,000 guests. GSFW 2025 is predicted to be a visual spectacle for the fashion community and is set to become one of the ten most influential fashion weeks in the world.
Inspired by the rich heritage of Vietnamese folklore, the "Hồn Việt" collection masterfully reinterprets the elegance of traditional art through a modern design language. Familiar images from Dông Hồ paintings, intricate carvings from ancient temples and pagodas, and folk beliefs are skillfully incorporated, transforming these cultural elements into the core creative materials of the collection.
According to Dr. Lưu Thị Tho, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion Design at Hanoi University of Industry, the students skillfully applied modern techniques such as embellishment, printing, painting, and structural manipulation through pleating and ruffling in the "Hồn Việt" evening gown collection. These techniques were used to enhance folk motifs and silhouettes on premium fabrics like silk, organza, and taffeta.
The collection is highly regarded not only for its artistic depth, reflecting the profound understanding of traditional culture by HaUI's fashion students, but also for its high applicability. This is demonstrated in the luxurious and contemporary evening gown designs that made a striking impression on the 1,500 guests attending Global Student Fashion Week 2025. The event took place on the afternoon of March 16, 2025, showcasing the remarkable intersection of cultural heritage and modern fashion aesthetics.
