Establishment of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, under Hanoi University of Industry

On August 5, 2023, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. This is the second school to be established under Hanoi University of Industry.

School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering was established on the basis of the merger of 2 faculties of Hanoi University of Industry: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Automotive Technology. These are 2 key faculties in training, research, and technology transfer.

Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, congratulated the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering on its new milestone and expressed the hope that the school will uphold their traditions and strive for further growth and success in the future.

Up to now, Hanoi University of Industry has established two member Schools, including the School of Foreign Languages and Tourism (established in December 2021) and the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Technology (established in August 2023). Hanoi University of Industry plans to establish 3-5 more affiliated schools by 2025. HaUI has undertaken a comprehensive restructuring of its organization and human resources to meet the requirements of management, training, and a new governance model that aligns with the progressive global development trends.

Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc emphasized the establishment of schools within the university allows for decentralization, granting more autonomy to each unit, promoting self-governance, and enhancing the quality of education, scientific research. Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc believes that the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Technology will achieve even greater accomplishments in the new phase.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung - Principal of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering - expressed profound gratitude to HaUI’s Management Board for entrusting him with the important role of serving as the Principal of School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung, Principal of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, pledged to inherit the achievements of the faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the faculty of Automotive Technology, as well as the valuable initiatives and experiences of the predecessors. He emphasized the importance of maintaining stability and fostering unity within the school, encouraging internal collaboration and innovative work from all staff members.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung underscored that building and developing the school is a collective endeavor, a culmination of the intellect of multiple generations. He expressed the hope that the entire community of faculty, lecturers, students, and staff at the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering will work together, seize opportunities, overcome challenges, and successfully achieve the set goals and tasks.

School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering boasts an experienced and passionate team of faculty and staff. It has the highest number of highly qualified professors, associate professors, and Ph.D. holders within the university, with over 50 lecturers holding the titles of Professor, Associate Professor, and Ph.D. Many of the professors and lecturers are reputable scientists in the fields of mechanical engineering and automotive technology. They have obtained their master's and doctoral degrees from domestic and international institutions.
