A group of students from Foreign Trade University and Hanoi University of Industry have just won the championship at the Meeting with PM 2024 economic debate competition.

A group of students from Foreign Trade University and Hanoi University of Industry have just won the championship at the Meeting with PM 2024 economic debate competition.

The finals of Meeting with PM 2024 took place on the evening of June 2nd in Hanoi, with the participation of five teams: PMA (Academy of Finance); IBECOM (Foreign Trade University); HN2H and BLOOM (University of Economics, Vietnam National University, Hanoi); and MENTORA+ (comprising students from Foreign Trade University and Hanoi University of Industry).

Each team had to go through two parts of the competition: Multiple Choice and Project Proposal Presentation.

With the collaboration of students from both Foreign Trade University and Hanoi University of Industry, team MENTORA+ excelled and won the championship, securing a total prize of 100 million VND.

Meeting with PM is an annual event in the field of economics, organized by students and supported by the Political Economy Department, University of Economics (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).

This year's competition attracted 52 teams from 25 universities and 7 high schools across the country, including several international schools.

The competition provides an opportunity for high school students in Hanoi, as well as undergraduate students domestically and internationally, to showcase their creative thinking and ability to apply policy knowledge to real-world situations.

Through the competition, teams have the opportunity to directly propose recommendations to policymakers, thereby helping to address business challenges and promote sustainable economic development.

On behalf of the judging panel, Ms. Pham Thi Hong Yen, Standing Member of the Economic Committee of the National Assembly, praised the performances of the students. She noted that their abilities and scientific thinking, along with a deep understanding of issues in each participating enterprise, were evident.This allows for the review and suggestion of policy improvements, giving voice to the younger generation, and encouraging the spirit of self-reliance among businesses and Vietnam’s economy.

Commenting on the quality of this year's competition, a representative of the judging panel said that despite the academic and specialized content, the students brought unique perspectives that were closely aligned with the developments of businesses and the economy.

The 2024 competition topic is timely and relevant, reflecting the economic and social development goals of many countries worldwide, in the region, and is also one of the important goals and solutions for Vietnam in developing and recovering its economy and society amidst the unpredictable challenges of climate change, the international context, and the rapid development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Through this competition, students have demonstrated their potential and scientific thinking, their deep understanding of issues in each participating enterprise, and thereby reviewed relevant policies, suggesting improvements and additions to contribute to the development of Vietnam's economy.
