On the afternoon of March 10th, 2017, HaUI Institute of Technology welcomed the delegation from Ryukoku University (Japan) headed by Prof. Matsukidaira, Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology. There were representatives from the Department of International Cooperation, HaUI Institute of Technology, Faculty of Electronics Engineering, and the university's scientists attending the ceremony.
Ryuoku University, established in 1639, is the oldest institution of higher education in Japan with three campuses in Kyoto and a neighboring province (Shiga Province). Currently, It is one of the top universities in Japan offering multi-disciplinary programs and courses with a large number of students. Ryukoku University has established international relations with more than 50 universities and research institutes in the world including some universities in Vietnam.
At the beginning, Dr. Le Viet Anh, Head of International Cooperation on behalf of the school, welcomed the delegation, and gave an overview of HaUI’s history and development in the past years.
Then, Dr. Phan Thanh Hoa introduced the delegates to HaUI Institute of Technology, scientific activities at the university, trends in carrying out research projects and transfer of science and technology. He also emphasized the top priority of HaUI in recent years has been the cooperation between Hanoi University of Industry and Japanese universities, organizations and businesses.
On behalf of Ryukoku University, Prof. Tomohiro Miyatake briefly introduced the history of the university's development, as well as its specialized fields of training.
Both sides discussed the possibility of cooperation in research and advanced science and technology activities. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duc Cuong, director of HaUI Institute of Technology, expressed his thanks for the visit and suggested the possibility of cooperation in two directions: professional training at Ryukoku University with short and medium term scholarships for scientists and lecturers of Hanoi University of Industry given by the Japanese University, and cooperation in implementing Science and Technology tasks with the support from the two sides' scientists. Professor Junta Matsukidaira, after visiting the laboratories and exploring the facilities of the school, appreciated the capacity of the school and proposed some cooperation ideas with Hanoi University of Industry as well as HaUI Institute of Technology about Postgraduate Student Exchange and Research Collaboration in the near future.
At the end of the meeting, delegates from Ryukoku University gave their thanks for the warm welcome and expressed confidence in future cooperation opportunities between the two universities.
