Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Tu is currently an assistant professor and director of the Next-generation Computing and Network Systems Laboratory (Next-CNS) in the Department of Computer Science at Kennesaw State University, Georgia, USA. He was named in the world's top 2% scientists on Stanford list in 2022. Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Tu has published over 120 scientific research papers in leading international journals and conferences, received numerous awards for scientific research, and led many scientific projects funded by US research funds, the US Department of Energy, and leading technology companies worldwide such as Google, Amazon, IONQ. He is also a senior member of IEEE.

In 2024, HaUI plans to establish the School of Information Technology and Communication under Hanoi University of Industry. Therefore, engaging with leading professors in the field of information technology is essential for HaUI to keep up with new trends in education, develop sectors to meet societal needs such as cybersecurity, information security, artificial intelligence, etc., and to open up opportunities for international scientific research and publications for faculty members, researchers, and students of the university.

Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Tu from Kennesaw State University (USA) discussed interdisciplinary research topics at the event

Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Tu stated that in the past, scientists in the mechanical engineering field only focused on issues related to mechanical engineering, while those in the information technology field solely concentrated on information-related matters. However, in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, scientists are shifting towards researching interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary issues. Currently, the Internet of Things (IoT) is permeating through most crucial infrastructures of nations. Currently, the Internet of Things (IoT) is infiltrating most critical infrastructures of nations. The more modern and complex the systems are, the more associated risks there are in terms of safety and information security. Therefore, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research aims not only to discover new technologies and techniques but also to control associated risks.

Additionally, Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Tu analyzed three directions within the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research ecosystem: (1) Smart manufacturing; (2) Artificial intelligence in safety and information security; (3) Quantum.

Regarding the potential applications of quantum technology, Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Tu believes that quantum technology can be applied in financial security, securities, shortening the time to create new vaccines or pharmaceuticals, increasing the efficiency of renewable energy sources, and enhancing climate change prediction. Therefore, the US government and many countries, as well as major technology giants worldwide, are allocating billions of dollars to quantum technology research.

Quantum is seen as a new revolution, an inevitable trend in which Vietnam cannot stay out. Especially when Vietnam is becoming a technology development center in the region and globally.
