The Second 5S Week Closed With Certain Success and Further Challenge

On 28 October 2011, HaUI organized the closing ceremony for the second 5S Week. More than 300 people including the board members, heads and vice heads of faculties, centers, and departments together with students took part in the event.

Mr. Tsutomu Uchida, Senior Advisor, JICA Vietnam Office and enterprises experts from Honda Vietnam, Cosmos Industrial Co., Ltd., and Optorun Co., Ltd., also joined the event. Mr. Quang, Vice Rector, reviewed all activities in 5S week. He was very happy to see many progresses in implementing 5S of HaUI’s lecturers and students. He praised faculty/department/center with good 5S implementation and also named the poorly performed faculties and centers to push them to make more effort. HaUI awarded for the effort of faculties, centers and departments. The Best Faculty/Center Award went to the Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion Design. Training Department received the Best Functional Department Award. The Best Office Award, The Best Workshop Award and The Best Classroom Award went to the Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion Design, the conventional lathe workshop of VJC and the Faculty of Foreign Language respectively. After the awarding ceremony, the guests from enterprises gave speeches. They stressed the importance and effect of 5S in both schools and enterprises. They encouraged HaUI to maintain 5S implementation by involving all lecturers, staff and students. Finally, JICA experts made comments on findings in 5S Week, including certain successes and further challenges. They asked lecturers and students to spend at least 10 minutes to clean up classrooms and workshops before classes finish and stop littering trash such as cigarette butts and chewing gums to be a better school.
