Seminar: ChatGPT and AI technology in education and training
On June 11, Hanoi University of Industry held a seminar "ChatGPT and AI technology in education and training".
Overview of the seminar
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong - Vice Rector of the university shared: ChatGPT hit 100 million monthly active users in January 2023, making it the fastest-growing application in history. To put that into perspective, TikTok took 9 months to reach 100 million users. And Instagram took 2.5 years.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong emphasized that any new technology has problems to solve, especially in education. Today's seminar was organized to help HaUI's staff and lecturers better understand ChatGPT and AI so that they can soon have thorough research and appropriate actions to minimize negative impacts and promote the positive effects of ChatGPT and AI in education.
The seminar welcomed 2 key speakers delivering 2 topics: "Operational Principles of large language models and ChatGPT" by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Le Minh (JAIST Institute, Japan) and "Application of large language models, GPT Chat in Reality - Risks and Challenges" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoai (AI Academy Vietnam).
In the presentation, Assoc.Prof.Dr.Nguyen Xuan Hoai brought up 4 specific contents: ChatGPT application - technical perspective; Looking at ChatGPT/AI from many angles; Some applications of AI in education; Using ChatGPT in higher education.
Speaker Nguyen Xuan Hoai suggested the contents of ChatGPT and AI to serve to learn such as: summarizing, searching for information; creating essays, and presentation slides; plagiarism checks; automatic error correction; teaching data analysis and alerts; suggesting a personalized learning path…
The discussion was lively with many interested opinions, affirming the position of artificial intelligence technology that is present in our lives and becoming an essential part of human civilization. We need to accept technology products as achievements of human intelligence and treat them as a tool to serve people.
