Using KPIs to Monitor & Evaluate Progress Toward Organizational Goals
On the morning of September 8, as part of the BUILD-IT project, Hanoi University of Industry collaborated with Arizona State University (ASU) to organize a training session on using KPIs to Monitor & Evaluate Progress Toward Organizational Goals.
At the training session, Mr. Tran Van Thai - Program Manager for Accreditation and Quality Assurance at Arizona State University (ASU) in Vietnam introduced and provided guidance on strategic management and KPIs, building effective model performance, formulating, mapping strategic goals and selecting performance indicators.
Overview of the training session
KPI (Key Performance Indicators) is a key performance indicator, considered a "tool" that many businesses and organizations worldwide, as well as in Vietnam, apply to measure work efficiency. functional departments and individuals in the organization. Higher education institutions with the goal of becoming an address highly trusted by society for the quality of their training need to develop and apply a set of KPIs in assigning jobs and evaluating the performance of lecturers, and professionals, thereby promoting work motivation and self-regulation toward common goals and strategies.
Participants (including the university leaders, representatives of some departments, faculties and centers) divided into 4 groups corresponding to 4 SMART goals use logical models and resulting matrix models to determine and Identify potential KPIs for each strategic purpose. The results matrix diagram reflects the strategic vision/goal, SMART Objectives, impact/change and intervention/action.

Up to now, 04 participating groups have identified 09 impacts/changes in the resulting matrix, including The university model, which has been established and operated; Digital transformation is implemented in all management units; Innovating teaching methods and assessing students to meet the output standards of the training program; Resources for training activities to meet international accreditation requirements; The financial/budget mechanism for research and technology transfer is established and implemented; Strong research groups are formed; CGKH products are selected and applied by enterprises; Domestic and international cooperation activities are promoted; Community service activities are diversified. From the above 09 impacts/changes, each group sets up corresponding actions and builds KPIs in line with the school development strategy, goals and practical application in the coming time.
