Advancing AI Integration in Industry and Interdisciplinary Education: A Strategic Collaboration Between HaUI and FISU Vietnam

On February 18, 2025, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) convened a strategic meeting with the Vietnam ICT Club of Faculties, Institutes, Schools, Universities (FISU Vietnam) to lay the groundwork for the upcoming AI4Industry 2025 Conference.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative global technology, reshaping industries and higher education alike. HaUI has proactively integrated AI into its digital transformation agenda, embedding advanced technologies across its management, teaching, and research functions to evolve into a smart, digitally-enabled institution.

Building on its pioneering success in implementing an e-university system that revolutionizes management and academic processes, HaUI is now making targeted investments in AI. The university is dedicated to incorporating cutting-edge AI technologies and products into both its educational framework and administrative operations. By hosting a series of conferences, symposiums, and scientific events centered on information and communication technology (ICT), HaUI creates robust platforms for collaboration among scientists, experts, faculty, and students. In 2024, HaUI notably hosted the 33rd Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics (OLP’24), Procon, and the ICPC Asia Hanoi 2024 programming contest, drawing participation from 87 universities, colleges, and academies nationwide.

These initiatives not only foster knowledge sharing and networking but also reinforce collaborative partnerships between the university, industry leaders, and research institutions—thereby opening new pathways for applied research and interdisciplinary education.

Overview of the meeting

Dr. Kiều Xuân Thực, Rector of HaUI, emphasized the critical role of AI in the internationalization of education during his address. He outlined the university’s vigorous efforts to harness AI for advancing both educational and research excellence. Collaborations have been established with institutions such as Ming Chi University of Technology in Taiwan to pursue advanced AI research, form joint research groups, and set up collaborative centers aimed at boosting international scientific publications and delivering innovative AI solutions to industry. Notably, the “Smart Factory Research Center,” established in 2022 at the HaUI School of Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Technology, exemplifies the integration of AI with Industry 4.0 and IoT for industrial design, monitoring, and automation. Several ministerial and national research projects are similarly aligned with AI-driven innovation.

Dr. Thực affirmed HaUI’s commitment to partnering with FISU Vietnam to co-host the AI4Industry 2025 Conference, an event designed to promote the application of AI in interdisciplinary education and to cultivate high-caliber human resources for national development. He also underscored the importance of integrating AI into university management, envisioning a future where education serves as a cornerstone of innovation.

Professor Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Thủy, President of the Vietnam Association for Information Technology and FISU Vietnam, praised the steadfast support from the Ministry of Education and Training and international organizations. He highlighted FISU’s impressive record of organizing landmark events—such as AI4VN (since 2018) and the AI4Life Conference in 2018—that have significantly propelled advancements in science, technology, and higher education.

Professor Thủy stressed that the forthcoming AI4Industry 2025 Conference, in collaboration with HaUI, will provide a critical forum for experts to share research outcomes, discuss the implementation of AI in higher education, and chart a course for the future integration of advanced AI technologies to enhance the quality of higher education.
