On the morning of April 25th, 2017, Ms. Diana Millar – Director of RELO, US Embassy in Vietnam together with Dr. Nina Y. Kang, senior lecturer of Southern California University and Mr Duong Le, RELO specialist, had a meeting with representatives of HaUI Executive Board and Faculty of Foreign Languages. On behalf of HaUI, Dr. Bui Thi Ngan, HaUI Vice Rector, Dr. Hoang Ngoc Tue, Dean of Faculty of Foreign Languages, and Dr Tran Thi Duyen, Head of English Language Practice division, welcomed the distinguished guests.
On behalf of the US Embassy in Vietnam, Ms. Diane Millar expressed her thanks to the University Executive Board and Faculty of Foreign Languages for the warm welcome and kind consideration to the US Embassy in Vietnam in general and the experts supporting the projects in particular. Also, she highly appreciated the efforts made by the Faculty of Foreign Languages in promoting the cooperation between the University and the US Embassy in Vietnam.
As part of the project, Dr. Nina Y. Kang will have meetings with the research groups of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and support the research groups to develop the English for Occupational Purposes curriculum for students at the university, based on the findings of the previous Need Analysis research on English language requirements at work. On May 4th, Dr Kang will deliver a workshop on developing EOP curriculum and courses. Workshop participants will be teachers and course developers from HaUI and other higher education institutions in the area.
On behalf of Hanoi University of Industry, Dr. Bui Thi Ngan – HaUI Vice Rector expressed her sincere gratitude to the support from RELO and US embassy for the research project to improve English language education at the university. She also affirmed that HaUI and Faculty of Foreign Languages have made careful preparations to work with Dr. Nina Y. Kang during her time at the university. Furthermore, Dr. Bui Thi Ngan expressed her hope that the cooperation would bring about remarkable outcomes, contributing to improving the quality of English language education at Hanoi University of Industry and other Higher Education institutions in Vietnam.
