Workshop on “Copyright and Digital and Open Educational Resources”

On the morning of April 12th, 2007, Hanoi University of Industry cooperated with the Northern Academic Library Association to hold a scientific seminar on “Copyright and Digital and Open Educational Resources”. The seminar attracted the attention of scientists, researchers, and library leaders of the universities of the association. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Nguyen Huy Chuong - Vice President of the Vietnam Library Association, President of the Northern Academic Library Association. On be half of HaUI, Dr. Bui Thi Ngan - Vice Rector was also present.

The development of libraries at universities, colleges and academies plays a crucial role in the implementation of credit-based training. However, libraries are now facing the new challenges in the context of the information technology revolution and worldwide information globalization. Therefore, Hanoi University of Industry in collaboration with Northern Academic Library Association held the scientific workshop on "Copyright and Digital and Open Educational Resources ".

In the seminar, the speeches with various topics presented in turn includes: "Open Educational Resources (OER) and copyright issues in accordance with Vietnamese Regulations” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam, “Overcoming Regulation Barriers in Writer Copyright Protection for The Development Of Digital Document and Open Educational Resources” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Hai, "World License System, Open Source and Creative Commons License Demonstration for Open Educational Resources" by Expert Le Trung Nghia, "Dspace: Open Document Management and Restrictions on Copyright Infringement" by Expert Hoang Dung, "Open Access to Digital Resources of Hanoi National University” by Le Ba Lam. In addition, there were product demonstrations of copyright, digital document and open educational resources management by Hien Dai Company, IDT Company.

This is a forum for researchers, scientists and librarians at universities to exchange knowledge, interact, and share experiences as approaching the new library development trend: building, maintaining, developing open educational resources and copyright issues in accordance with Vietnam regulations, thereby improving the quality of service, learning and teaching, scientific research at universities.
