Experience-Sharing Meeting on Strategic Planning for University Development between Hanoi University of Industry and Hanoi National University of Education

On the afternoon of July 9th, a delegation from Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Son - Rector, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hien - Party Secretary and Chairman of the University Council, paid a visit to Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) to exchange experiences on strategic planning for University development.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc - Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, provided an overview of HaUI. He emphasized the university’s consistent strategic development goals, which include: training high-quality human resources; creating and transferring knowledge and technology to society and the community to meet the demands of the industrial revolution, and serving society.

Overview of the meeting

According to Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, HaUI is oriented towards becoming a multidisciplinary university focused on applied scientific research, evolving into a smart university model with innovative governance. The university has prioritized investment in infrastructure, environmental landscapes, teaching, and research equipment; improving the quality of the lecturers; and modernizing its curriculum , and training methods to meet international standards, aiming to train a global workforce. HaUI has initially succeeded in restructuring and transitioning its governance model, having established three affiliated schools within the university: the School of Foreign Languages - Tourism; the School of Mechanical Engineering - Automotive; and the School of Economics, with plans to increase to five schools by 2025.

Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc emphasized that, based on practical development needs, the transition to a university governance model not only aims to decentralize and enhance autonomy but also serves as an opportunity for the university to innovate its internal structure and governance system, thereby streamlining management and focusing resources on higher levels of development.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Son, Rector of HNUE, stated that, as a teacher-training institution with an educational philosophy centered on training outstanding educators with a humanitarian spirit, modern thinking, and positive actions for community development, HNUE aims to achieve outstanding results in scientific research and technology transfer by 2030, particularly in training high-quality teachers at the national and international levels.

The Rector of HNUE expressed his hope that today’s meeting would provide an opportunity for HNUE to exchange, share, and learn from HaUI’s experiences in developing university development strategies, thereby gaining a practical and comprehensive perspective to gradually build a development strategy for HNUE for the 2025-2030 period, with a vision toward 2045.

Dr. Hoang Anh, Director of the Center for Quality Assurance, shared insights on "Strategy Formulation and Implementation - Practical Experiences from Hanoi University of Industry."

During the meeting, both sides exchanged and shared experiences in strategy development; human resource organization; business and international cooperation; digital transformation and information technology development; and the operation of enterprises within the university.
