Hanoi University of Industry produces alcohol-based hand rub for staffs and students

In the face of an acute respiratory infection caused by novel Coronavirus, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) has produced its own alcohol-based hand rub which is according to World Health Organization standards and distributed free of charge to staffs, lecturers and 30,000 students of the university.

With the goal of protecting the health of the staffs, lecturers and students, on February 9th, 2020, Faculty of Chemical Technology - Hanoi University of Industry has conducted the production of the first disinfectant and antiseptic solutions according to the instructions of WHO. It is expected that up to February 16th, 2020, a large quantity of alcohol-based hand rub (approx. 30000 bottles) will be produced and be provided free of charge to officials, lecturers and students of the university.

All stages of the production process are carried out to ensure the health standards

The alcohol-based hand rub is contained in 100ml glass bottles with all necessary chemical ingredients such as Ethanol, Purified water, Glycerin, Hydrogen peroxide and flavorings.; production process according to food standards and WHO standard formula.

Examining the research and production of the disinfectant solution, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Bong and Dr. Bui Thi Ngan - Vice-Rectors highly appreciated the efforts of teachers and students of the Faculty of Chemical Technology.

According to Dr. Pham Thi Mai Huong - Head of the Faculty of Chemical Technology, the department has sufficient resources, machinery and infrastructure to produce large quantities of the disinfectant solution up to 5,000 - 6,000 bottles per day.

The manufacturing process of alcohol-based hand rub includes the stages: Treatment of clean water, distilled water, treatment through medical alcohol, hygiene, drying bottle; dispensing; agitation; chemical extraction; checking after the extraction; labelling; product inspection and packaging.
