On the morning of 22/8, Hanoi University on Industry worked with the JICA delegates for conducting preliminary studies on Small and Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) Aid in Vietnam.
Dr. Bui Thi Ngan, on behalf of the management board, presided over the meeting along with representatives of Center for Enterprise Partnership and International Cooperation Department.
During the working visit, JICA representatives announced and detailed the plan for personnel training to support SMEs in Vietnam. More specifically, the training workshop is expected to be carried out in 4 periods, each lasting 5 days to make up a total of 20 training days for a staff member. The timeline for the training periods are on November 2017, January, March and May 2018. The target participants of the workshop are officials responsible for dispensing aid (belonging to state agencies, financial institutions, etc) with the aim to provide the personnel with necessary information on the fundamental issues related to SME aid programs and the operation of Vietnam’s SMEs.

Dr. Bui Thi Ngan briefed the delegates on the university’s international cooperation programs with a focus on the cooperation of the university with Japanese companies and organizations. The two parties also discussed current problems SMEs in Vietnam are facing, proposed some solutions as well as take other issues of interest for the JICA delegates into consideration. Hanoi University of Industry expressed the interest in sending its personnel to take part in JICA’s workshop. The JICA exploratory delegates hoped to promptly implement the workshop after finishing its preliminary studies, with the goal of helping the participants in understanding the fundamental concepts in corporate governance for SMEs, identifying difficulties of SMEs and suggesting best solutions for them.
