The Politburo's Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024, has identified the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as decisive factors for national development. These elements are essential conditions and the best opportunities for Vietnam to become a prosperous and powerful country in the new era.

According to Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, Rector and Head of the Digital Transformation Steering Committee at Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), the university has made significant efforts to demonstrate its commitment and action in achieving national goals related to science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. HaUI’s strategic goal is to become Vietnam’s leading application-oriented university, operating under a fully autonomous model, spearheading digital transformation and smart governance, and gaining regional and international influence.

The university is on the path to completing its "Smart University" model by promoting digital transformation in governance, training organization, and research activities. This includes building a modern, synchronized, secure, safe, and efficient digital infrastructure.

Dr. Nguyen Viet Tuyen, Director of the Information Technology Center, highlighted that HaUI’s IT infrastructure for digital transformation has been comprehensively invested in, utilizing a diverse range of international-standard resources and consulting with top technology firms. HaUI’s IT infrastructure boasts a 10 Gb internal network, 27 servers, three storage servers, over 2,000 computers for training and research, more than 20,000 active end-user devices, over 1,200 surveillance cameras with data storage, 110 switches, and more than 200 Wi-Fi access points.

With such a modern infrastructure and strong IT investment, the university is on track to becoming a smart university, ready to embrace global educational trends.

Digital transformation has also brought significant benefits to HaUI’s financial and accounting management. Dr. Nguyen Thị Mai Lan, Head of the Department of Finance & Accounting, shared that the implementation of management accounting software and an integrated financial management system has enhanced efficiency, reduced time and costs, and improved financial transparency. Digitized financial data ensures safe storage, quick retrieval, and accurate reporting and analysis, leading to more data-driven and timely financial decision-making.

Regarding facility management, asset data has been digitized for safe storage and easy retrieval, aiding in maintenance, repair, and upgrade planning. The digitization of technical drawings and records simplifies asset management and updates, reducing costs and improving efficiency.

Dr. Tran Ngoc Khanh, Head of the Department of Student Affairs, noted that HaUI has developed an online student information system to simplify administrative procedures, from enrollment to course registration and scholarship management. This system enables real-time tracking of student progress and provides timely support when needed. Additionally, it enhances career counseling, connecting students with job opportunities and industry partners while ensuring secure and efficient student data management.

For Tran Thu Huong, a distance-learning student in English Language, digital transformation has brought immense benefits. The flexibility of online learning allows students to access materials, attend classes, and interact with lecturers anytime and anywhere with an internet connection. HaUI’s online learning management system provides a rich repository of lectures, assignments, and reference materials, enabling students to plan their studies proactively.

HaUI has also pioneered the application of Virtual Reality (VR) technology in tourism training since 2022 as part of its comprehensive digital transformation strategy. This initiative enhances professional training quality while promoting the sustainable development of Vietnam’s tourism sector. Alongside theoretical learning, students experience immersive simulations of renowned destinations and customer service scenarios. VR technology equips students with practical skills and problem-solving abilities before they enter the workforce. According to Lecturer Vu Van Cuong from the Faculty of Tourism, the integration of VR technology has garnered significant interest, motivating students to learn more effectively and better prepare for their careers.

Over the years, HaUI has been a key provider of high-quality IT professionals for Vietnam’s national digital transformation efforts.
