On March 6th, 2017, Hanoi University of Industry held a scientific seminar on " Applying biotechnology to producing chicken feed from by-products and agricultural products in Bac Giang province" at the People's Committee of Dong Tam Commune, Yen The District, Bac Giang Province. This research project is submitted by Bac Giang Province, and implemented by Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI Institute of Technology) under the provision of Dr. Nguyen Van Loi – Head of the Project.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duc Cuong, Director of HaUI Institute of Technology, representatives of Hanoi University of Industry, Mr. Than Minh Sam, Vice President of Yen The People's Committee, Ms. Bach Thi Khanh Chi, representative of Department of Science and Technology, Bac Giang Province, leaders of Dong Tam Commune, representatives of Agricultural Extension Association, project members and over 40 households in Hong Lac village, Dong Tam commune, Yen The district were present at the seminar.
Participants of the workshop
Associate Prof. Dr. Pham Duc Cuong delivered the opening remarks
This is a highly practical project that aims to help farmers produce clean chicken feed themself by utilizing some by-products and agricultural products such as maize, soybean to mix with bio-preparations.
There were also two scientific reports presented at the seminar: "Using Biotechnology to determine of sensory factors, physical-chemical fators and nutritional values in chicken feed produced from agricultural by-products of Bac Giang" and "Identifying nutrient values of raw materials" by Dr. Nguyen Van Loi and Nguyen Minh Thang M.A.
TS. Nguyen Van Loi presented the report during the seminar
After the report, representatives of Hong Lac village farmers were actively involved in exchanging ideas and asking very practical questions for the research team.
Nguyen Thi Hoa and Nguyen Van Phuong, who raise Yen The chicken hen shared: Yen The chickens of the experimental group consume a smaller proportion of feed per 1kg weight gain than those of the control group. The chickens have yellow skin, smooth feather, nice looking, and the price for 1kg of feed is lower than that of industrial feed.
Mr. Nguyen Van Long, a veterinarian of Dong Tam Commune, said that using this model also produced chicken with less morbidity, less death rate, less expense on animal feed than the control model.
At the end of the workshop, Mr. Thien Minh Sam, Vice President of People's Committee of Yen The District, highly appreciated the research group’s outcomes with their the practical application that helps solve the urgent issues at the area. At the same time, the research team was suggested to develop the research products for use in practice. Ms. Bach Thi Khanh Chi, representative of Bac Giang Department of Science and Technology, recommended that the research team should complete the preparation of the research report for the upcoming appraisal meeting.
