Training in Applied Linguistics in Vietnam: Trends and Solutions

That is the main content of the seminar "Training in Applied Linguistics in Vietnam: Trends and Solutions" organized by the School of Languages ​​and Tourism, a member university of Hanoi University of Industry on the morning of January 12, 2022.

Attending the seminar, there were the leading experts in Applied Linguistics from many institutes, academies and universities in Vietnam; Dr. Bui Thi Ngan - Vice-Rector of Hanoi University of Industry; Dr. Hoang Ngoc Tue - Rector of the School of Languages ​​and Tourism, a member university of Hanoi University of Technology, along with a large number of lecturers, researchers, Ph.D. students and students of the School of Languages ​​and Tourism.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Hoang Ngoc Tue - Rector of the School of Languages ​​and Tourism thanked experts in applied linguistics in Vietnam for participating and sharing at the seminar. Dr. Hoang Ngoc Tue believed that through the information obtained from the linguists, the attendees would gain a lot of useful knowledge to apply to teaching and research.

The seminar consists of two main contents: Introduction of the project to open the Ph.D. program in Applied Linguistics and Exchange of scientists, administrators, and lecturers about the trends of language training in Vietnam. The seminar was organized in the form of a combination of face-to-face and online, widely deployed to scientists, officials and workers in the University.

Dr. Hoang Ngoc Tue affirmed: the seminar was organized with the purpose of sharing information, promoting scientific research activities, improving the understanding capacity of training in Applied Linguistics; consulting scientists, administrators and lecturers in Linguistics, in order to initially develop research ideas and teaching orientations towards Applied Linguistics in Vietnam.

At the Seminar, experts discussed many topics: What is applied linguistics? Where should the PhD training program in Applied Linguistics begin? What are the development trends of Applied Linguistics? What are the student's approaches when participating in the Applied Linguistics training program? What are the research directions of Applied Linguistics?...

The content of the seminar brought a lot of practical information to the attendees, and at the same time suggested many issues that need to be further researched.
