Spring reunion 2023: An opportunity for international students to experience Vietnamese Tet culture

In order to create opportunities for international students studying at Hanoi University of Industry to learn about Vietnamese Tet culture, on January 12, the Student Support Center in collaboration with the Center for International Cooperation organized a program called "Spring reunion 2023".

On the occasion of Tet, the rough peach trees become graceful and brilliant; colorful new year trees are erected in front of the houses, Banh chung are carefully wrapped to display on the ancestors' tray. Tet is also an occasion for the whole family to gather warmly around the year-end dinner with traditional dishes. All of that creates a unique taste, leaving deep and indelible footprints in the hearts of every Vietnamese as well as foreigners living, working and studying in Vietnam. Reunion Spring 2023 recreates the beauty of traditional Tet culture to help international students studying at Hanoi University of Industry discover culture, experience the unique features of Vietnamese culinary specialties.

International students from 07 countries (including Laos, Korea, China, Mozambique, Mongolia, Palestine, and Poland) are very excited and enthusiastic to participate in activities to learn about the Vietnamese culture. They learn about the meaning of Banh Chung, the legend of the New year tree, they can wrap banh chung by themselves and cook Vietnamese Tet dishes.

International students are eager to erect the New Year tree, a typical cultural feature of Vietnamese Lunar new year.

All five-color ornaments are aimed at balancing yin and yang, adorned with more brilliance and pride for the tree. Ildo Zidane De Alge Primerio, an international student from Mozambique hopes for a prosperous new year.

Colorful flags and flowers at each camp. Each booth is decorated by the students in a unique way to create a picture with the characteristics of each country.

International students were extremely excited to cook traditional Vietnamese Tet dishes. This is an interesting and meaningful experience for students, especially international students on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2023.

The dormitory yard is filled with the scent of sticky rice and Dong leaves. The banh chung is wrapped a bit awkwardly but contains the deep affection of international students, contributing to preserving and cultivating the friendship between Vietnam and other countries.

Tet dishes are not only attractive in taste but also becomes a unique cultural feature for international friends.

Many students ask for traditional calligraphy in the form of lucky words for the Lunar New Year with the wish for a year of luck, fortune, and longevity.

The program not only creates opportunities for exchange and connection between international students, but also spreads the unique cultural values of the nation to international friends.
