Opening ceremony of the academic year 2021 - 2022

On October 15th, 2021, in the cozy air of autumn, Hanoi University of Industry held the opening ceremony of the academic year 2021-2022, the most special opening ceremony in history, the first one to be held amid the COVID-19 pandemic, when students could not come to the university.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien - Member of Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of Civil Affairs Committee of the Party, Minister of Ministry of Industry and Trade along with representatives from units under the Ministry; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Member of the Party Committee of Hanoi, Secretary of Party Committee of University and College in Hanoi and representative of Vietnam National Union of Workers in Industry and Trade, representative of some organizations, businesses, and media.

On the side of HaUI were People’s Teacher, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Duc Quy - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the university, Meritorious Teacher, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Hong Quan - Chairman of University Board, together with other comrades in the Party Committee, Board of Trustee, Board of Director, representative of Trade Union, Youth Union, Student Association, the heads and vice heads of units under and directly under the university, lecturers and student attend by their self and online.

In his eulogy, Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien praised and recognized the achievements that the lecturers and the students realized in the school year of 2020-2021, especially in the context of difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Minister hoped in the new academic year of 2021-2022, the university keeps promoting their traditional, core value to flexibility adapt with “new normal” context, successfully complete targets, missions of the academic year. To carry out the mission of training high-quality human resources and meet the demand of industrialization, modernization and international integration, Hanoi University of Industry should accomplish these tasks:

First, to keep fully aware of and carry out the Party’s point of view, especially the Resolution in the 13th National Party Congress and other relative policies of the Party, the Government about basically, completely renovate and upgrade the quality of training and education, focus on college - university education and vocational education. Besides, consolidating, improving the quality of the institutions in the university (the Party Committee, the University Board and the socio-political organizations) to meet the increasing demands of tasks in the new situation, especially is to heighten the responsibility of the Party committees, leaders and the pioneering and exemplary spirit of officials, party members and lecturers in leading, directing and organizing the implementation of tasks in order to build and develop Hanoi University of Industry into a high-quality university, offering multi-sector and multi-field training, some majors can qualify international standards, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources of the domestic and global labor market.

Second, continue to promote university autonomy; synchronously renovating in terms of contents, programs and methods of education and training towards modernity, international integration, learner-centeredness, and respect to the practical needs of society and adapt to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Continuing to invest, exploit and effectively employ modern facilities and equipment for teaching and learning; especially promoting digital transformation, profound applying information technology in managing, organizing training activities, effectively implementing the e-university model to adapt safely, flexibly and effectively control the COVID-19 epidemic following the Government's direction. At the same time, focus on building and fostering administrators, experts and lecturers with high qualifications and professionals to perform well the role of administrating, guiding the student, promoting the students' self-study capacity, sense of initiative and creativity.

Besides professional training, the university should focus on creating a healthy environment and conditions for learning, training and entertaining; strengthening education on revolutionary traditions and ideas, ethics and lifestyle for the student, help them to deeply understand traditional, historical values of the university, the Party, the nation and of the country; thereby nurturing a dream, an ambition to grow up, to comprehensively and harmoniously developed in both intellectual, physical and aesthetic values. This will create a solid foundation for the graduates to become honest, humane individuals who have both high skills to work effectively and patriotism, national pride and a sense of responsibility for the country and society.

Third, actively and proactively international integration in training and scientific research, strengthening international cooperation, give priority to the development of high-quality training programs. Promoting scientific research associated with postgraduate training; encouraging scientific and technological research in fundamental industries (such as supporting industries, materials, chemicals, processing and electronics), partly improving the quality and effectiveness of training, make important contributions to the sustainable development of the university, the industry and the country.

With his belief in the rich historical tradition, in the prestige and position of the university, in the joy of the first day of the new school year, the Minister expressed his expectation that the lecturers and students of the university would continue to promote the more-than-120-years glorious tradition of a Hero of Labor unit to complete the development strategy of the university, welcome the new academic year 2021-2022 with new successes.

In his speech, People’s Teacher, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Duc Quy - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the university emphasized: The new academic year 2021 - 2022 is an important transitional year to realize the goal that by 2025, Hanoi University of Industry will consist of 3-5 schools under/affiliated. Right from this school year, lecturers and students need to focus on completing 6 key tasks of the academic year:

(1) To renovate and improve university governance capacity, towards university governance 4.0;

(2) To develop training programs according to international standards;

(3) To promote scientific research, publication in prestigious international scientific journals, give priority to research about technology transfer, promote innovation and entrepreneurship;

(4) All management processes of the fields will be controlled, evaluated and verified according to specific criteria and must meet standards;

(5) To consolidate and improve the capacity of administrators and lecturers; reviewing, building and perfecting the system of internal management documents and applying the regulation of law about autonomy in university, promoting democracy and improving university management capacity. Developing the brand and culture of Hanoi University of Industry;

(6) Effectively educating of revolutionary ideals, political ideas, ethics, lifestyle, life skills, and job skills for students.

On behalf of students, Tran Diem Quynh - a freshman of the 16th class majored in Business Administration, expressed her feelings at the opening ceremony of the new school year: “In attending the opening ceremony today, we were full of pride when we became a student of Hanoi University of Industry. We believe that, with the attention and guidance of the lecturers, with our own efforts, we will overcome difficulties to achieve the highest results, contribute to promoting the glorious tradition of Hanoi University of Industry".

In order to honor and encourage the achievements of the valedictorian and runner-up of the admission groups, direct admission students in 2021, the university decides to grant scholarship to 100% of the 4-year tuition fee or 1-year tuition fee for these students ​with a total budget of more than 800 million dongs. At the opening ceremony, the University also received many sponsorships from domestic and foreign agencies, organizations and businesses for students of the University.

The Minister highly appreciated the results achieved by the university throughout its history, especially the successes in the period of implementing autonomy. About the goal of transforming the management model and building a smart university, the Minister suggested that the university complete the scheme and prepare enough resources to effectively implement when deployed. He also advised building an institutional system to operate the university in accordance with reality, democracy, transparency and compliance with the law. In particular, it is necessary to develop a team of highly qualified officials and lecturers in teaching and research, to meet the requirements when transforming the management model, to keep up with the trend of the industrial revolution and digital transformation. At the same time, it should research and invest in developing human resource training programs according to orders in the industry and supporting industries.

Attending the opening ceremony of the academic year 2021 - 2022 at Hanoi University of Industry, Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien also spent time visiting the traditional room, Faculty of Electronics, Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Testing Center and Quality Management Center.
