24 out of 47 HaUI’s students participating in the competition were honored and awarded at the Closing and Award Ceremony of the 30th National Mechanics Olympiad held at National University of Civil Engineering on the morning of May 19th, 2018.
With 47 contestants participating in 8 subjects of the competion, HaUI won 24 individual prizes including 01 First prize in Information Technology Application in Principles of Machining; 01 Second Prize, 05 Third Prizes and 17 Individual Consolation Prizes in Strength of Materials, Principles of Machining, Machine Elements, IT Application in Engineering Mechanics, IT Application in Machine Elements, IT Application in Strength of Materials. 02 First prizes in team competition were in the Application of Information Technology in Principles of Machining and in IT Application in Principles of Machining respectively.

After receiving the First prize in IT Applications in Principles of Machining, student Nguyen Duc Thang said: "The National Mechanics Olympiad has been a familiar playground for HaUI’s students for many years. Each competition is an opportunity for us to exchange knowledge with students from other universities. My friends and I have made our great efforts for the competition and we are really happy to achieve the results today.” Thang also did not forget to extend his heartfelt gratitude to HaUI’s management, teachers of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering who have provided constant guidance, encouragement and support to him as well as other students.

The representative of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering said that “the university’s push for learning and scientific research, especially in students in mechanical modules has been proven to be highly effective. HaUI and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering are always with our students every step of their way and ready to support them when they take part in competitions related to science and technology. Our efforts are made with the aim to help students acquire more knowledge and improve their skills in the future.”
The National Mechanics Olympiad was first held in 1989. This year, the event took place on April 15th at three locations: National University of Civil Engineering (for the Northern region), Da Nang University of Technology (for the Central region), Ho Chi Minh City Open University (for the Southern region) with 1262 contestants from 39 universities and institutes across the country. 706 individual prizes were presented including 15 First prizes, 75 Second prizes, 151 Third prizes and 465 Consolation prizes.
