On November 4, 2020, Hanoi University of Industry held the Opening Ceremony of New Academic Year 2020 - 2021.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Cao Quoc Hung - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, and representatives of functional departments of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; Mr. Tran Quang Huy - Chairman of Vietnam National Union of Workers in Industry and Trade; Mr. Tran Xuan Duong - Vice Chairman of Ha Nam Provincial People's Committee and representatives of Departments of Ha Nam Province; Major General Pham Duc Tu - Director of Department of National Defense Education, Ministry of Education & Training; representatives of Embassy of Lao PDR, Embassy of Mozambique in Hanoi; representatives of organizations, businesses, media and press.
On the side of HaUI, there was the presence of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Duc Quy - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of HaUI, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Hong Quan - President of the University Council, with members in the Party Committee, Management Board, University Council, departments, faculties, training centers, company, lecturers and over 500 new students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Duc Quy summarized outstanding results in the academic year 2019 - 2020 such as 107.000 applications registered for admission; launched 04 new majors; CDIO application project in university training continues to be deployed strongly and effectively; updated and revised training programs to ensure national standard accreditation, including 5 accreditation oriented programs according to ABET standards; the school has developed and implemented e-lessons for combined training, some specialized modules were taught in English.
In the New Academic Year 2020 - 2021, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Quy affirms: With the goal of developing HaUI into a multi-disciplinary HaUI with the core of engineering and technology, achieving qualifications and quality according to national and international standards in a number of fields. Orientation to 2025, HaUI will launch 3 to 5 affiliated schools. Right from this academic year, HaUI must have plans and set a solid foundation for the development of the school, first of all it is necessary to focus on completing the key tasks.
On behalf of the school leaders, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Quy welcomed over 8,000 new students who have officially joined the HaUI. He emphasized: Thank you for choosing HaUI. All lecturers and staffs will always accompany and support you.

Attending and speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Cao Quoc Hung affirmed: During the 123 years of development, generations of staffs, lecturers and students of HaUI have made great efforts to build HaUI as one of the leading universities in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Cao Quoc Hung assigns tasks to lecturers and students of HaUI in the new school year, which are: (1) Focus on renewing the governance model of the school in accordance with the spirit of Resolution 29 of the Central Executive Committee; (2) Further improve the efficiency of the linkage between the school and businesses in building training programs and methods; (3) Build a contingent of cadres, officials and lecturers to ensure both quantity and quality (4) Promote scientific research and technology transfer, promote international cooperation; (5) Build a culture of quality, ethics of teachers and brand name of HaUI
New student Cao Viet Anh - representing over 8,000 freshmen - presented flowers to Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Quy to congratulate the school for the opening ceremony of the school year 2020 - 2021
On behalf of 8.000 freshmen, student Cao Viet Anh emotionally spoke at the Opening Ceremony: “Choosing HaUI is my right decision. I wil try my best in the upcoming 4 years at HaUI”.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Duc Quy congratulated and awarded scholarships to 5 valedictorians
At the opening ceremony, HaUI decided to grant scholarships to 5 valedictorians (4 years free-tuition) and 14 salutatorians (one year free-tuition) worth 650 million VND. The school has also received many funding sources from agencies, organizations and businesses.
