On the morning of 25/8, Hanoi University of Industry received a delegation from Japan’s Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Welfare led by Mr. Junichi Wanda – Vice Director General of Human Resources Development Department - Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Welfare.
HaUI Rector, Assoc. prof. Dr. Tran Duc Quy, Vice-Rector Dr. Bui Thi Ngan and representatives from International Cooperation Center, Vietnam - Japan Center received the delegation. On behalf of the university, Assoc. prof. Dr. Tran Duc Quy expressed his gratitude for the trust and goodwill extended by Japanese government agencies over the years.

Mr. Junichi Wada highly regarded the warm welcome by Hanoi University of Industry and was glad for the successful programs implemented by the university in conjunction with Japanese government to develop students’ competencies as well as improve Vietnamese workforce as a whole. Mr. Wada also highly valued the contribution by HaUI as a leading force in training vocational teachers, thereby improving the human resources of key industrial sectors. Also, the vocational teachers in turn successfully performed the role of assessors in skill examinations. The Japanese delegate hoped that the successful model in training vocational teachers would be applied to other institutions across the country and that assessors from HaUI would continue to work closely with Human Resources Development Department in future skill examinations and the university would successfully organize national skill examinations in accordance with the Japanese standards.
Mr. Vice Director General discussed with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Quy two potential areas of cooperation: transfer of experience in training personnel in accordance with the Japanese standards and development of instructors (JICA project for the 2001 - 2017 period) as well as the support in utilizing the skills under Japanese standards.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Quy stressed the achievement and positive impacts of JICA projects implemented in HaUI and asserted that JICA projects made great contributions to HaUI’s reputation. Especially, the foundation of Vietnam - Japan Center has created a larger influx of students enrolling in the university. HaUI is currently finalizing the proposal for the establishment of Vienam - Japan College, on the foundation of Vietnam - Japan Center to submit to Vietnam’s government. The rector hoped that the establishment of the college would enable more variety and specialization in areas of training which have been successfully transferred to HaUI.
The rector wished to receive more support and contribution from the Department so that HaUI students may have access to greater employment and internship opportunities provided by Japanese businesses in Vietnam, as well as in other countries.
After the working visit, the delegates took a tour of Vietnam - Japan Center’s to explore the facilities and infrastructure. Mr. Wada hoped to revisit and further cooperate with the university in the future.
