The workshop was heated, democratic, objective and it reached a high consensus on such issues that university autonomy is an inevitable development trend of universities in the world. In the higher education reforms, the overall trend is transferring autonomy to universities. The purpose of this policy is for the universities to use it effectively to meet the new demands of society. Therefore, autonomy delegation is one of the most important solutions to develop higher education.
University autonomy was introduced in our country many years ago, but the progress was rather slow. Currently, it is supposed to be an essential breakthrough and a leading measure to remove difficulties in strongly developing higher education in Vietnam. After this workshop, the Association and the National Council of Education and Human Resource Development will report to the Prime Minister its results, and propose some policies as well as solutions to accelerate the process of autonomy and self social responsibility, international integration in the system of higher education in Vietnam.
