This morning, 30September 2017, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) organized a former student reunion for cohorts 1-5 of Hanoi Technical Vocational School I (one of the precursors to HaUI) on the occasion of the 50th death anniversary of the first rector of Hanoi Technical Vocational School I, Mr. Vo Quy Huan (1967-2017)
Those attending the meeting were Ass. Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Quy – Party committee Secretary and Rector of HaUI, Rectorate Board, Dean/ Vice Dean of the University Departments, representatives of Youth Union, Student Union, representatives of Mr.Vo Quy Huan’s family and 41 former students of cohort 1-5 (1955-1959)
At the reunion, the ex-students were telling moving stories about the teacher Vo Quy Huan’s merit in teaching past generations of the university. It has been over 60 years since then and their hair has turned grey, but their faces showed great happiness and strong emotion when reviewing memories of the time studying under the roof of Hanoi Technical Vocational School I.

Expressing sincere gratitude and appreciation to generations of former students, Ass. Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Quy- Rector of HaUI said: “Today, teachers and students of the university are of great honor and pride to welcome past students of cohorts 1-5 to visit the university. This is such an enormous encouragement to the university and the opportunity for HaUI’s teachers and students to show heartfelt gratitude to the predecessors in general and teacher Vo Quy Huan in particular. To bring into play the achievements of the pioneers, we have been trying to make the university increasingly develop.” The rector emphasized: “ HaUI is now among the top best universities in training high-qualified technicians with the orientation of practice and application, of multi types and at various levels with the purpose to meet the high demand of the domestic and international labour markets.

Mr. Tran Lum – Former Minister of Heavy Industry (1990-1995), an ex-student said: “Today, on the occasion of Mr. Vo Quy Huan’s 50th death anniversary, we express our deepest thanks and appreciation to him. On visiting the university today, we are impressed by the achievements that the university have made, as well as the determination to find out a new unique way suitable with trend of development in the national industrialization- modernization. On behalf of the former students, I would like to express our congratulations and put our hope in the teachers and students of HaUI. We really expect that the university will increasingly uphold the success in order to stand beside industrial countries in the region and in the world.
The representative of former students of cohort 1-5, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hai – former Director of Tran Hung Dao Mechanical Factory movingly expressed: “Coming back after years, we are delighted and proud when witnessing the changes of the university with much more modern and adequate facilities. We are happy as the university is on the continuous development, we are proud of being ex-students of HaUI, especially the first cohort of the university.” He also showed sincere thanks to the university for organizing the warm event so that he had a chance to see the great changes of the university.

At the end of the event, the former students visited the traditional room as well as the facilities of the university. Before that, they visited and took photos in Vo Quy Huan street (Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi) – the street named after the first rector of Hanoi Technical Vocational School I.

The warm reunion came to an end, but the joy and emotions were still on the faces of the ex-students. These beautiful memories will last forever. The university together with its current and future development owes its gratitude to the predecessors who built a strong foundation and have greatly contributed to the steady development of the university.
