Mid-Autumn Festival- A time for reunion
We were very excited to immerse ourselves in the vibrant colors of autumn, participate in making mooncakes, crafting star-shaped lanterns, and decorating the five-fruit tray. Vietnamese culture is truly captivating and full of interesting things to discover.
These were the sentiments shared by international student Tuan Hao (Taiwan, China) while participating in the Mid-Autumn Festival 2023 co-organized by the Student Support Center, International Cooperation Center, and the School of Foreign Languages and Tourism (under Hanoi University of Industry) on September 27th.
Dr. Nguyen Van Thien - Vice Rector, participated in making mooncakes with the international students. He shared: We hope that the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival will will bring a sense of warmth to our international students who are studying far away from home. Consider Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) as your second home; a place for international students to exchange cultures and experience the fascinating aspects of Vietnam.
Tuan Hao added: In Taiwan, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, people often make grilled meat. However, in Vietnam, what impressed me the most were moon cakes and the star-shaped lanterns.
The teacher is introducing Tuan Hao to star-shaped lanterns, mooncakes, and the unique characteristics of the Mid-Autumn Festival in Vietnam.
Nele, an international student from Germany, made beautiful moon cakes by herself. She enthusiastically shared: moon cakes are quite easy to make, and they taste delicious too. Not only did I make cakes, but I also painted masks and crafted star-shaped lanterns by myself. It has truly been a fantastic and unforgettable experience.
Nele was deeply impressed by the activities of HaUI's 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival. She has just finished making a moon cake by herself.
"Mid- Autumn Festival' is not only a time for reunion but also an occasion for each of us to express beautiful gratitude and share love. These are the messages that the program conveys" emphasized Dr Le Viet Anh, Director of the International Cooperation Center.
