Advancing Collaboration in High-Quality Workforce Development with Shiga Province, Japan
The Chairman of the Nagahama City Business Association, Shiga Povince (Japan) affirmed: “We are truly honored to establish a collaborative relationship focused on training high-quality human resources with Hanoi University of Industry.”
On the morning of November 1st, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), presided over a working session with representatives from the Business Association of Nagahama City, Shiga Province, Japan. This collaboration is anticipated to forge a strong and long-term relationship with enterprises in Shiga, while expanding job opportunities in Japan for high-quality graduates from HaUI.
Overview of the working session
Enterprises from Shiga Province, Japan, highly appreciate graduates from Hanoi University of Industry for their specialized knowledge, innovative mindset, creativity, and especially their eagerness to learn and improve. They expressed hope for more opportunities to connect closely with students through programs such as job fairs, advisory seminars, and career counseling events. Through these engagements, Japanese businesses intend to offer practical support to help students overcome language and cultural barriers, enabling them to adapt and establish sustainable careers in Japan.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, remarked: “In HaUI’s development strategy, expanding partnerships with universities and enterprises globally, especially from Japan, is identified as a strategic priority. Currently, HaUI maintains stable and regular collaborations with over 200 enterprises, including many leading Japanese companies such as Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Mazda. These partnerships have not only provided practical benefits to the university but have also positively contributed to the growth of our corporate partners.

The Vice Rector affirmed: “Collaboration with the Japanese government and businesses is crucial for enhancing the quality of training, research, and student support. We hope that the partnership between HaUI and businesses from Nagahama City, Shiga Province, Japan, will will continue to grow, yielding clear outcomes in training, student support, and academic exchange activities.”

Shiga is one of the most industrialized provinces in western Japan, with its industrial sector accounting for 48.9% of the regional economy—the highest rate in the country. Currently, approximately 4,300 Vietnamese are employed in Shiga. The province's key development areas, including mechanical engineering, high technology, manufacturing, and food processing, closely align with several core training programs at Hanoi University of Industry.
