Hangeul Festival 2024: A Platform to Gather and Spread Love for Korean Culture
With a vibrant celebration filled with colorful activities rich in traditional Korean culture, the Hangeul Festival 2024 was held at Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), drawing the participation of 15 educational institutions specializing in Korean studies and over 2,000 students. Themed "Day of Sowing Seeds", the festival offered a unique opportunity for Korean language enthusiasts to commemorate the historical significance of Hangeul and honor the cultural and linguistic heritage of Korea.

Hangeul Festival, held annually, serves as a platform for lovers of the Korean language to reflect on the creation of the Hangeul writing system, invented by King Sejong. It is an occasion to pay tribute to the development and spread of the Korean language and culture. This year's festival holds special significance as it coincides with multiple important milestones: the 130th anniversary of the birth of renowned linguist Choe Hyun-bae, who made significant contributions to the research and promotion of Hangeul; the 578th anniversary of Hangeul Creation Day; and the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea.

He emphasized that it is not only an occasion to celebrate the cultural and linguistic heritage of Korea but also an opportunity for students and faculty of Korean majors in Vietnam to exchange knowledge, experience unique cultural values, and deepen their understanding of Korean culture.
The School of Foreign Languages and Tourism at HaUI, which offers majors in English, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese, fosters an open learning environment. With a focus on experiential learning and cultural exchange, the school provides students with numerous opportunities to engage in meaningful cultural activities. Students not only study their chosen languages but also actively participate in events and activities that promote global cultural understanding.

Hangeul Festival 2024 featured a range of dynamic and engaging activities, such as the Golden Bell Contest, K-Performance Talent Contest, and Camp Decoration Contest. Students also participated in traditional Korean games and art competitions, showcasing a wide variety of genres and styles from traditional to modern. These activities came together to form a vibrant cultural tapestry that celebrated the beauty of Korean culture, its people, and its enduring global influence.
The festival not only honored the past but also inspired the present and future generations to appreciate and promote the unique cultural heritage of both Korea and Vietnam.
