International Women’s Day 2025: A Special Experience for International Students at HaUI

As March ushers in the gentle embrace of spring, it also marks a special occasion dedicated to honoring and celebrating women—International Women’s Day on March 8th. For international students at Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), this day serves as not only a commemoration but also an opportunity to immerse themselves in Vietnamese culture and create lasting memories during their academic journey abroad.

Studying at the Faculty of Vietnamese Language and Culture, School of Foreign Languages and Tourism under Hanoi University of Industry, Polish students Kubiak Mateusz Wiktor and Nikityn Natalia Katarzyna have had the opportunity to experience Vietnamese holidays firsthand.

Natalia reflects on her first experience: “Spending my first March 8th in Vietnam was both surprising and deeply moving. The students at HaUI are exceptionally warm and welcoming, and their thoughtful gestures allowed me to truly feel the appreciation and recognition given to women. The intimate gatherings, cheerful songs, and bright smiles created a sense of belonging, making me feel like a valued part of the HaUI community.”

The celebratory atmosphere extends beyond the university campus, encompassing streets, cafés, offices, and local shops. Mateusz was particularly impressed by the abundance of fresh flowers and beautifully arranged gift sets available throughout the city. “In Vietnam, International Women’s Day is not merely an annual observance but a heartfelt occasion to express admiration and gratitude toward women”, she remarked.

To further enrich this meaningful celebration, HaUI organizes a variety of activities, including cultural exchanges, flower arrangement competitions, and panel discussions on the role of women in society. These events have resonated deeply with many international students. Danilo and Laura, students from Mozambique majoring in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at HaUI’s School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, fondly recall their participation in a Women’s Day celebration in Ha Nam last year. They enthusiastically took part in a wide range of activities, including outdoor games, camping, and musical performances dedicated to honoring women, all of which contributed to an unforgettable experience.

Similarly, students from Laos cherish fond memories of organizing small gatherings within their dormitory, where they sang, danced, and shared meals in an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. “We decorated the space together, prepared simple dishes, and took photos to capture the moment. It was through these seemingly small yet meaningful activities that I truly felt the bonds of friendship and the welcoming environment at HaUI”, shared a Laotian student.
