Hanoi University of Industry conducted quality accreditation for five training programs in accordance with ABET standards
After the official evaluation period of 05 undergraduate programs at HaUI, which took place from October 15-18, 2023, a significant milestone has been achieved in realizing the development objective of Hanoi University of Industry to become a multi-disciplinary applied university. This includes several areas that meet international standards.
International Integration in Training Quality
Over the past several years, ensuring the quality of training programs has been a core task of Hanoi University of Industry. Particularly, quality accreditation in training programs according to international standards not only helps affirm the quality of these programs but also provides a solid foundation for the university to engage with the world's elite higher education.
Overview of the event
Since 2018, the development strategy of Hanoi University of Industry has identified goals and key indicators, particularly standardizing criteria to elevate the university's training programs to international standards. As of now, 05 training programs (Computer Science, Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering , Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering, and Electrical Engineering) have been innovated, timely updated, and enhanced in quality to align with the requirements specified in the ABET standards.

Emphasizing the significance of implementing the quality assessment for 05 training programs according to ABET standards. Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc affirmed that this is a crucial milestone, reflecting HaUI's efforts in development and continuous improvement of the quality of higher education. It contributes significantly to meeting the societal demands, fulfilling the needs of learners, and realizing the university's goal of becoming a multi-disciplinary applied institution, with several areas meeting international standards.
ABET Evaluation Experts
After a process of self-assessment and quality assurance registration with the ABET organization, Hanoi University of Industry collaborated with ABET experts to conduct the quality assessment for 05 training programs. The ABET Evaluation Team, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Carol Ellen Schulte – Head of the ETAC delegation, included assessors such as: Automotive Engineering Technology - Dr. Ken Rennels; Electrical and Electronic Engineering - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rocio Alba-Flores; Telecommunication and Electronic Engineering Technology – Prof. Jay Porter; Mechanical Engineering – Prof. Beth Carle. Prof. Rajendra K. Raj – Head of the CAC delegation, and the assessor for Computer Science - Prof. Sanjay Garg.
During the official 04-day working period, the ABET expert team engaged in discussions with university leadership, Deans of Faculties, heads of departments, heads of training programs, staff, lecturers, students, alumni, and employers. Simultaneously, they conducted inspections of facilities supporting the training programs, including meeting rooms, faculty offices, lecture halls, laboratories, auditoriums, libraries, various areas, service conditions, student support, and etc.

Based on the official survey results, the ABET evaluation experts provided assessments and observations on Hanoi University of Industry's 05 training programs, noting their alignment with the university's plans and their achievement of several international standards.
During the closing session, Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc expressed delight at the comments and evaluations from the ABET expert team. He emphasized that enhancing the quality of education not only meets the demands of the labor market both domestically and internationally but also contributes to building the reputation and prestige of HaUI. The significant evaluations from the expert team for the 05 training programs accredited according to ABET standards serve as motivation for Hanoi University of Industry to continue upgrading and improving training programs in the fields of technology, electronics, and computing in the coming period.
