HaUI AUTO Team Secures Third Prize at Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2024
After four days of intense competition from July 3 to July 6, the HaUI AUTO team from the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Hanoi University of Industry achieved an impressive Third place at the Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2024.
Competing against 14 teams from 6 countries, HaUI AUTO distinguished itself in the Internal Combustion Engine category with a remarkable performance, achieving 816 km per liter
This year's success was underpinned by significant advancements in vehicle design and manufacturing. The team focused on creating a more compact, aerodynamic, and lightweight vehicle. Key innovations included the optimization of the engine and transmission systems to enhance performance and fuel efficiency.
One of the standout features of the vehicle was the use of carbon fiber technology for the shell, alongside aluminum alloy and other lightweight, durable materials. This strategy replaced heavier materials like solid steel, resulting in a vehicle that was 50% lighter than its predecessor. Additionally, the team incorporated dual ball bearings into the wheel design, a novel approach that significantly reduced rolling resistance and improved overall efficiency.

What is the Shell Eco-marathon?
Shell Eco-marathon is one of the world’s leading energy-efficiency engineering programs for students. It aims to push the boundaries of what is technically possible and inspire young people to become leading scientists and engineers of future energy solutions.
The program provides a platform for high school and university teams to explore every aspect of design and technology, using their Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) skills to build their ultra-energy-efficient cars, and then take them out on the track in competition.
